Covid Heroes was an initiative put in place by Emperor Divers to recognize people who have stepped up during the pandemic by rewarding them with free liveaboard trips in the Maldives and the Red Sea.

Megumi – the second of the eight chosen Heroes to take up her trip - is a music therapist from Berlin who volunteered to work in her hospital’s Covid department and used her skills to help ease the suffering of those afflicted by severe Coronavirus complications.

The past 2 weeks, we saw the awesome launch of Phase 2 of our Youth Sponsorship Program.

His passing is incredibly unexpected and shocking to everyone who knew him and worked with him.

There are very few people that knew more, or were more passionate about the wrecks and the diving in Chuuk and Bikini. Anyone who dived with him will have felt his infectious enthusiasm. Everyone who dealt directly with him at Master Liveaboards and The Dirty Dozen felt it too.

On top of this, the first weekly direct flight from the UK with British Airways touched down in Nassau on the 31st May. All signs are good that other EU countries will soon follow.

The company is evolving as many changes, large and small, are implemented. From fundamentals like branding and safety, all the way through to hygiene in the ‘new normal’, no stone has been left unexamined. Today though, marks the announcement of one of the bigger changes, and an exciting one for their guests.

In February Emperor Divers launched the Covid Diver Heroes initiative, where we aim to recognise 8 people who have stepped up in the pandemic with free liveaboard trips in the Maldives and the Red Sea.

We are delighted to share with you the story of our third hero Megumi Gotada, who wins a free Red Sea liveaboard trip. Megumi was nominated by two different people showing the effect she has had in her community, and so here we have the nomination from her friend and colleague Katharina Berger:

Keeping positive and always on the look out to improve our product for our clients, be it on land or sea, we have taken the opportunity during the COVID-19 ‘quiet-time’ to drop in and check out a few marks we have had on our plotters over time and see first-hand what the diving potential actually is.

Today we headed out in picture perfect conditions and with a strong incoming tide bringing with it excellent visibility - great for us, and strong currents - excellent for fish life and feeding action.
