Access to the popular Lot cave diving site 'Source de Landenouse' has been closed until further notice.

Brit cave explorer Michael Thomas has recommended that all divers should stay away from the site until access has been formally agreed because the resurgence is located on private land.

"Please do not make the situation worse by attempting to dive Landenouse. Unfortunately some divers do not take cave access agreements seriously or understand what work has gone on to get the agreements."

It is hoped that the situation is positively and swiftly resolved for all parties concerned - the land owner, visiting divers etc.

The French local authorities are aware that cave diving tourism is a useful revenue stream and they have put measures in place to keep several cave diving sites open.
