Barb Roy talks to Chris Porter about captive marine mammals

Free The Pod is the world's first long term integration release program of a captive pod of dolphins back to the wild.
My name is Chris Porter and for many years worked in the captive industry of dolphins and whales. The attack by Tillikum, a killer whale I trained 21 years ago, was the final confirmation I needed that I could not support the industry I was active in to the point of supplying parks with animals.
This year I started the Free The Pod campaign to release the dolphins left at my facility back to the wild as a statement that man needed to change our concept of acceptable display of animals.

This year I started the Free The Pod campaign to release the dolphins left at my facility back to the wild as a statement that man needed to change our concept of acceptable display of animals. I am struggling to make this release a success based on people's skepticism of my past.

The issue is that the animals get affected in the people politics. For their benefit I am reaching out to your organization to help us make this reality. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you have on this matter. I have attached a summary of the Campaign.

This year we are looking for a budget of around 250k to simply get the release done with the protection of the Government. The whole program is designed as a 5 year follow-up and alternative program developments for the dolphin hunters.

I thank you for your time and attention on this matter.
