Dive lights in South Africa

8 hours 39 min ago
Has anyone used the scubapro LED module lighting system?:help:

I have looked the information on the other dive lights and each one has its merits.:sarcy: It is quite costly to import the salvo, haylcon, etc

I am using a homemade built one. Pictures attached. Currently used as my primary. I want to use this as my back up.:brickwall

Anyone have any ideas on good torches that have

1. Umbilical cord
2. longer then 2hrs burntime
3. 18 watts
4. Fast charge
5. led/halogen.
6. Handle
7, will not cost an arm or a leg :D

Regards

Silly O2 feed question

6 January, 2009 - 21:03
Hi all,

so I am getting a new NarkedAt90 cell checker soon and I have a dumb question. I need to connect the manual addition hose to the cell checker to fill it up with O2 at 1bar or whichever it is. It seems I would need to plug the O2 solenoid feed to do that and probably remove the hose then plug it at the first stage level. Any other idea ?

Air tight lid for my HH CCR Canister

6 January, 2009 - 20:30
Thanks to Tobin at DSS for machining up this lid for me.

I was trying to think of way that I could remove the head and the loop from my HH canister to let the sensors dry and rinse and dry the loop between dives on a multiday boat. For instance I go to Truk a few times a year and while there will do 5 - 6 dives a day for a week or two.

So in that instance I wanted to be able to dry out the head, rinse and dry the loop between; or at least have the option to do so. And I didn't want to remove the scrubber bag it etc. if I needed to leave it overnight.

So I talked with Tobin told him what I wanted and he machined up this lid for me. It's seals with o-rings. I added the vent, it just a thumb screw with an o-ring that threads into a threaded colar that I press fitted into th center of the lid. Similar to the vent on a Pelican case; wll in fact exactly like it since I had a few laying around the garage.

The lid seals perfect, I've stored my filled scrubber in it for a couple of days then dived it again and it seems to do exactly what I was looking for.

A present from Santa...

6 January, 2009 - 20:14
Last week Santa (disguised as the UPS driver and powered by my Visa card, not reindeer)
anyway, he dropped of a new Haskel AG-30 booster.

I spent a few hours this weekend putting together fill whips, gauges and all the "stuff" I need to use the Haskel.

I mounted it in a 1650 Pelican case I had laying around in the garage that was the home of my dry suits.

Perry from High Pressure Technologies hooked me up with the Haskel, the whips a cool digital gauge and all the other stuff I needed.
Perry and HPT did an excelent job and are very helpful and good group to work with.

Here's a few pics:

Display board corrosion?

6 January, 2009 - 18:53
Has anyone had any issues with corrosion on the circuit boards in the triple displays?

On a recent trip I had a display start going crazy, poor readings then the display would start flashing and then turned off completely. Batteries were fresh, less than 5 hours of use, didn't matter which cell was fitted the display still did the same. Took the display out and noticed a small amount of corrosion on the back which was dispatched with a toothbrush in about a minute and the display worked fine for the rest of the trip.

Just wondering if this is a common/known issue.
The display has never been flooded.
