Annelie Pompe is the first Swedish to take a world record in freediving. Pompe dived with a weighted the sled with 25 kilos and she swam back up using a mono-fin. The entire dive took 3 min 16 sec.
Pompe made her record dive October 5, off Sharm el Sheikh, in Egypt. The dive has been ratified by governing body AIDA, pending the result of a dope test.
With the 126 m dive she narrowly beat the record of Russian Natalia Molchanova, by just one meter, set earlier this year.
Variable Weight is a record discipline that uses a weighted sled for descent, and for the return ascent the freediver either swims up or pulls up the line on their own.
