In April 2011, Danbury Hospital in Danbury Connecticut sponsored the first dive medicine conference. Over 170 divers, physicians, and healthcare providers took part in the event.

Lectures included information on diving physics, the marine envenomation (process by which venom is injected) and medical fitness for diving. The conference was a great opportunity gain knowledge and network with fellow divers and health care providers interested in dive medicine.
