The New York Underwater Photographic Society’s First Meeting of 2012 Features Macro Work

The underwater world is filled with tiny creatures that range from the beautiful to the down right bizarre. Underwater photographers, get to record this magnificent world. Since the biggest rule of underwater photography is to get close, many photographers concentrate on the small.
At the NYUPS’s January meeting underwater image-makers get to show their macro work. Whether the image-maker used an expensive full frame DSLR or a small point & shoot camera, they could show their images and talk about the techniques and workflow used.

If you would like to participate, please submit images before 01/05/12. Any images submitted after that cannot be included. Email your images to Steve Edelstein at unclstevie@aol.com. On the subject line please type in caps “NYUPS images –Macro.” You will receive a confirmation email. If you don’t, please contact Steve Edelstein at unclstevie@aol.com, and cc Larry Cohen at Larry@liquidimagesuw.com.

To ensure that everyone gets their moment in the spotlight, around ten submissions are suggested or five minutes of video, but no matter how many images, please present them in no more than 5-10 minutes.

IMAGE SPECS
The ideal size of each landscape orientation image is 10” wide x 7.5” high - no larger. If an image is portrait, the image should be no more than 7.5” high x whatever width (certainly less than 10”.) If you size your images by pixels, the images should be a maximum of 720 pixels wide by 540 pixels high for landscape, and 540 pixels high for portrait.

All images should be 72 DPI, or pixels per inch, and .JPG files. If you would like to submit videos, please bring them to the meeting as Quicktime files on flash drive, CD or DVD. Videos should be clips less then 5 minutes each. Still email Steve and let him know you are bringing a video.

Please note that you do not need to submit images to attend the meeting - feel free to just come and enjoy the images, share and learn a little about shooting macro underwater. NYUPS wants to stress that all of their meetings are for photographers of all levels. This is not a competition. The idea is to share your best or favorite images or video.
