Merino Wool is used by a number of manufacturers in high-end performance athletic, exercise or outdoor wear because it is excellent at regulating body temperature, especially when worn against the skin.

Lavacore’s Merino Glove Liners

Whilst the scuba diving industry does not extensively use this fabric, it was utilised by Pinnacle Aquatics when they launched their patented Merino lined wetsuit in 2004.

Now Lavacore has blended with Sorona® to create a soft, warm, durable fabric and they are using this material to manufacturer their new glove liners.

These glove liners have three layers. An outer, a middle and an inner layer.

The outer layer has been designed to be flexible, durable and water repellent. Apparently this outer layer is quick drying and provides the diver with UV protection; UPF 50+. (This means the glove will block out 98% or 49/50ths of UV radiation).

The windproof, breathable, middle layer wicks moisture away from the body, whilst providing warmth. Meanwhile the Marino fleece inner layer also provides the diver with warmth and minimises odour.

Lavacore state that their glove liners can be worn as gloves, or beneath any dry or neoprene glove for added warmth. They come in six sizes: Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large and XX Large.
