Join me on this 8 day expedition to beautiful Isla Socorro which is part of the Revillagigedo Archipelago. Socorro and the other islands in the archipelago represent the northern end of the deep ocean volcanic range that also breaks the surface at legendary Cocos Island, Mysterious Malpelo Island and the islands of the Galapagos.
Socorro lies 240 miles south of Cabo San Lucas which is our point of departure for this epic adventure.
HUMPBACKS
The expedition is specifically timed to arrive at the archipelago during the heart of the humpback whale migration when mothers are looking after their newborn calves. The calves are insatiably curious and have a reputation for approaching snorkelers and divers.

Humpbacks are also known for their haunting whale songs and their acrobatic displays during which they often launch completely out of the water. Bring along a topside camera to catch these epic leaps and expect to see them slapping the surface with their enormous pectoral fins and tail flukes.

MANTAS!
The Mantas in the Archipelago are huge and extremely social creatures. They have been known to pick on particular divers, returning to them dive after dive for attention.

SHARKS, DOLPHINS AND OTHER MARINE LIFE
The abundant marinelife at Socorro attracts sharks and other pelagic predators from far and wide. Although its possible to see any number of different species, the most common sharks at the archipelago are Galapagos sharks, silky sharks and whitetip reef sharks. Also expect to see sea lions, huge stingrays and moray eels.
